Germany does have a good setup for renewable energies, making them one of the world’s leading renewable energy countries. In 2006 renewable energy accounted for 12% of the total gross electricity consumption in Germany, an encouraging figure. This success is due in large part to the diversity of Germany’s renewable energy portfolio, including solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass sources.
