Does genetic modification of seeds raise prices for farmers?

Yes, many large agribusinesses like Monsanto and Cargill charge more for their genetically modified seeds than others. This is because the seeds are a genetically patented organism, the likes of which can only be obtained through these companies. These seeds produce higher yields and therefor are worth more to farmers, which help to raise their prices.
