Kentucky is actually one of the most famous karst regions in the world. The development of karst landscape around Lexington has resulted in some of the state’s most beautiful scenery, including very beautiful horse farms. Most of the karst topography in Kentucky is on Limestone, with some dolostone. The Kentucky Geology Society claims that karst underlies half the state.
The Kentucky Bluegrass region is a karst region with sinkholes, caves and disappearing streams that drain underground to the river.
