A faster processor will allow you to open up more programs and have them load more quickly. This may indirectly save energy because you may end up being on the computer for less time if you get all your work done faster. However, in terms of actual energy usage, there isn’t much of a difference. Also, many times Internet connection makes more difference than processing speed.
