Presbyopia is the medical term for the deterioration of eyesight during the aging process.  Essentially, the pupil becomes smaller and restricts the amount of light let into the eye which results in difficulty focusing.  It is a condition which commonly takes a long period of time to develop to a point where people notice the difference in the ability to see, however it can occur at any age.
