Does everything produce carbon?

This question is a little vague. Living things in general produce carbon dioxide through respiration. Carbon is essential to life on earth, and every organism on Earth needs carbon either for structure, energy, or for both. The movement of carbon, in its many forms, between the atmosphere, oceans, biosphere, and geosphere is described by the carbon cycle.
