The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded stimulus money to at least two different tech companies, with the aim of increasing the number of charging stations for electric vehicles across the country. The California company Coloumb Technologies received $15 million to set up 4,600 charging stations in 13 different cities, under their program called ChargePoint America. Another California company, ECOtality, has received over $125 million in federal funding from the DOE, with a plan to install 12,000 charging stations during the next year.
