Does the EU have tough laws about over fishing?

I would say that the EU’s ban of by-catches is pretty tough. Under this law, fishermen must return to sea all fish they did not mean to catch or all fish that put them above quota. This puts a lot of strain on fishermen who must put a lot of effort into finding areas and using bait that will help them catch specific fish and keep others away. Because the fish must be thrown back dead or alive, it’s also lead to controversy since far too many dead fish are being returned to sea since they are considered by-catch.
