El Nino has lots of effects on oceanic life as it changes the temperature of the ocean. The effect is the greatest in the coastal regions of the eastern Pacific Ociean. Fishermen see a decrease in primary production, and thus the food supply for the entire food chain is lowered. As surface water increases, fish migrate in search of cooler water and food. Unfortunately, many of those fish end up in water which is too cold for them to survive in and they die.
