The only mention of such a river near Egypt is that a notable geologist, Khalid Awada, discovered evidence of a previously unknown underground river running through Niger, Chad, Libya and Egypt. According to the article, Egyptian leadership hopes to harness the water from the discovered source to alleviate the irrigation problems in that region. Supposedly there may be other underground rivers, which may be pursued in similar fashion. As far as a “buried Nile river” goes however, there does not seem to be much evidence for the claim.
