If anything, they’re probably safer than chalk boards. They produce much less dust, and I’ve never heard of any health risks — nor can I find any — associated with normal exposure to the dust from these boards. I would not, however, recommend eating or inhaling the dust (obviously). Unless you’re huffing the stuff, it shouldn’t pose any threat.
