Defrosting is the process of thawing out a frozen item, lessening the amount of ice particles within and changing them back to liquid water. If you were to freeze water with pollutants in it, they would be frozen in the structure of the ice. If the water were to then be ‘defrosted’ and turned back to a liquid, the particulates would still be in the water. So no, ‘defrosting frozen water’ does not make it cleaner.
