Cooking oil does not burn the same as gasoline. The chemical compositions in each are different, and therefore has different characteristics. Cooking oil is derived from plants while gasoline is derived from petroleum. Cooking oil is thicker and more saturated, so it burns much differently than gas. Gasoline has about 500 different compounds.
