Does closing vents to rooms we hardly use save energy?

    Studies have shown that this method does not seem to help reduce energy use for modern homes. In fact, in a California study, it actually led to increased energy usage. (See link below). However, the jury is still out on this particular idea, but the consensus does seem to be that if it is going to be effective, you should only close a few vents (not a whole bunch) on the outer rooms of the house.
