It would be incorrect to say climate change, the change, is the cause of deaths; but all the climatic events that occur – tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, floods, droughts, fires and more that result from climate change do indeed kill tens of thousands of people every year. Yes, those events all also happened in 1830 before modern climate change. So there is no way to quantify the number of deaths related to the change.
Climate change whether modern or ancient will also deplete populations through shifting weather patterns. Drought, floods and shifting rain patterns can level cities and turn once verdant land into desserts.
