Does China use more Coal than most countries combined?

In 2008, China consumed about 3 billion short tons of coal. This was nearly 40 percent of the world’s total coal consumption. With this data in place, the answer to your question depends upon the meaning of the word “most”. If to you “most” countries combined would consume less than 40% of the world’s total coal consumption, then China would use more coal.
