Yes, though it is very vague. Chinese president Hu Jintao announced in 2009 to “greatly decrease” carbon emissions in the country. President Jintao didn’t set any specific goals for emission cuts. But China is investing heavily in renewable and alternative energy sources, stating to produce 15% of their energy needs from these within a decade, but it seems like coal will be powering China for years to come. They also intend to plant trees in an area the size of Norway to help offset their CO2.
