Does changing the channels on your TV use more energy than keeping it on one channel?

I doubt any difference in energy would be significant enough to matter. A bigger problem is people who leave the TV on all day as “background noise” but who don’t really watch it — leaving devices running all day when not in use is a huge waste of electricity.
