Does Canada use less energy per household than Americans?

No, the energy per capita (per person) for Canada is 8,472.6 kilograms of oil equivalent (kgoe), while the USA uses 7,885.9 kgoe per capita. These are 2005 figures. However, USA is considered the number one energy consumer in regards to total energy use (in 2005). Energy use in the USA is considered to have been consistent since the 1970s, primarily because production of goods has shifted outside of the country.
