Just like the United States, it is a work in progress. There is a lot of information on recent initiatives, tariff programs, and even conferences at http://new.canrea.ca/site/ which is the Canadian Renewable Energy Alliance’s Website. An Energy Plan Report on progress detailing the work that’s been done to date in regards to renewable energy is also available at http://www.energyplan.gov.bc.ca/.
Following the US legislatiion of the stimulus bill which invested a significant amount of funds into renewable energy, Canada’s Premier Dalton McGuinty and Energy Minister put forth the Green Energy and Green Economy Act of 2009. This program sought to integrate more renewable energy into the current system and enforce energy efficiency measures for conservation.
