does burning anything cause green house gases?

Burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas, releases carbon into the atmosphere. Burning rubber and plastic is also very harmful to the environment.

Combustion of any organic matter produces CO2 as a byproduct. Fossil fuels and plastics are in this category even though we may not think of them that way because they too contain carbon.

Yes, the general chemical reaction all fires have is H*C*+O2—>CO2+H2O+Heat. Other stuff like Sulphur (S) or Nitrogen (N) might be in there also, and make SO2 (the starting ingredient in acid rain) or NO2 (the reason smog is brown-colored).
