Does Buddhism teach you to care about the environment?

Buddhism strongly teaches you to care about the environment, since Buddhists generally believe that hurting nature is hurting yourself. Buddhists try and practice living harmoniously with nature. A major practice of Buddhism is not harming living beings, this includes plants as well as other people and animals. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Buddhists despise the death of living things, simply that they value the circle of life and death in the natural world.
