Does bamboo really have antibacterial properties? How does that work?

I do not think it has a significant amount of antibacterial qualities itself. What you have probably seen is advertisements for antibacterial bamboo fabrics. These simply mean the bamboo fabric has been treated with Tinosan – this helped make the fabric anti-microbial. Scientists found that the fabric is not naturally antibacterial and only ones that have been treated work (and they only work to some degree).
