Does the average American spend more time each day on the computer or watching television?

If you exclude the time Americans spend on their computers at work, television. Americans typically watch about three hours of TV each day, while they spend about 2.4 hours a day online at home. They do work almost seven hours a day though, so those who stare at a monitor for much of that time probably spend much more time in front of a computer than a TV.

As media changes though, I think these two will become more and more similar as people continue to watch tv online, and as the two merge.  Already, computer and television screens are similar and the effect is the same.  Television is becoming interactive, and it is all available on the internet.
