There are certainly a number of passages in the Bible which draw our attention to the neccesity to love the earth as a gift of God. A good one is Psalm 24 “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon floods. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord or who shall stand in his Holy Place?” See also Jonah chapter 4, the story about whithering bottlegourd tree. Also the late chapters in Job, where the voice of God recounts the act of creation and asks Job (stand-in for all men) if he has the wisdom to understand the marvelous beauty of Nature.
