America has begun to cut down on its pesticide uses for multiple reasons. One, due to the many health problems with out-dated formulas like DDT, the EPA has allowed only the strictest control of the least toxic chemicals. Despite this, the US still uses more pesticides than any other country, over one billion tons every year. However, many companies that used manufacture now EPA-banned pesticides have started selling and shipping these dangerous chemicals abroad to places like India, Costa Rica and Peru. As a result, many of these developing countries are experiencing health problems in both their workers and the environment as they strive to reconstruct the industrial agrculture system we have put in place in America.
