Yes, it does. The oil spill was just another reason for Americans to really push toward a greener future.
I think there is more of a widespread sentiment across America that we need to seriously start using alternative fuels since the disastrous oil spill that continues to destroy the Gulf. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a tangible tragedy for people to realize that we need to change. People can see the oil polluting the pristine beaches of the Gulf and hurting the wildlife. The public can also see how our dependence on oil is hurting our economy (ex: the fishing industries in the Gulf region are now struggling, tourism and hospitality services have declined etc.) Hopefully this outrage at the oil spill will transform into positive change for America’s future.
