Does America produce enough energy to support widespread use of electric cars?

Absolutely! Energy demand varies throughout the day, and energy companies have built their power plants to accommodate peak demand. Unfortunately, most of these power plants do not shut off at night and thus the electricity that they produce gets completely wasted. When it is not used or stored, it dissipates in the form of heat. One of the great things about electric cars is that they can capture this energy an save it for later use. Thus, driving an electric car essentially has zero carbon footprint since the electricity would have been wasted anyway 🙂
