Does America have higher average speed limits than any other country?

Not really.  Most countries are on average about 50 kph (30 mph) in towns and settled areas.  Between 80 and 100 kph (50-60 mph) on freeways/expressways/highways.  Some countries differ significantly, such as Venezuela and Germany who do not have speed limits on their expressways.  Yikes!  (Although Germany does have a recommended speed of 130 kph)  In Kazakhstan, it is 70 kph on the back roads and 280 kph on expressways!

In the US, it is on average about 35 mph on back roads and 55-65 mph on freeways or highways.
