Does Al Gore make any money off of supporting the environment the way he does?

When Gore left government in 2001, his net worth was listed at less than $2M.  Since then, he has invested millions in various eco-friendly programs like solar cells, waterless urinals and carbon trading markets, as well as pouring money into non-profits like the Climate Project and his own Alliance for Climate Protection.  Although he can be paid over 100k to speak, he often speaks for free.  While his bank account has no doubt swelled since his rise to the top of the environmental battle, based on his investments and donations he seems to be giving it all right back.
