Do you think we would get more money from a cash for appliances program than a cash for clunkers program?

We don’t get any money from a cash for clunkers program–we (and this “we” is “we the government”) spend it!  The Cash for Clunkers program is/was a government-run program that gave car dealerships subsidies to pass on to those who were bringing in gas-guzzling cars in exchange for destroying the car’s engine.  This is better for the environment and better for the economy in the short run, since it gives people money to buy new, more environmentally-sound cars.  So, no, I guess–especially since it’s not clear what the incentive is for the government to destroy perfectly good old appliances and give people money for new ones.
