Not until coal resources are depleted and we find it more costly to mine coal than the amount of energy we can get from it. Coal is a cheap energy source, which makes it appealing to many nations, especially developing nations. However, developing nations are not the only ones who use coal. Currently, the U.S. gets 54% of its energy from coal. Until coal is no longer viable as a fuel source, I think we will continue to see the use of coal for energy for generations to come.
