Although compromise is the essence of democracy, the question quickly becomes “how far are we willing to go” in weakening a bill. I’m sure there are a number of provisions built into the climate bill that they feel will be cut in order to placate the opposition. However, this isn’t necessarily the best option, but it is the current government we have. But we should have a core we want, and the rest should be expendable.
