Do you think we could ever create a world where we got everything we would need for our daily lives within 100 miles?

Such a world certainly has existed in the past, and likely still does exist in many places in the world now. Early on in our civilization, we scarcely traveled more than a few miles for necessities. All the farming and labor was done close to home. In fact, I would guess that our current globalism (in which many of our necessities are imported from far away) is a phenomenon unique to the last fifty years or so.
