In short, no. Firstly, “forever” is a pretty long time and there are only finite amounts of natural resources such as oil. The rate at which we extract these resources far exceeds the rate at which they are produced. Secondly, we haven’t even considered what standard of living we are talking about. We could probably sustain our current population if everyone was only using the bare necessities and eating vegetarian diets. But if the entire world were to live like the United States, it would certainly not be sustainable. Thirdly, keeping the world population stable is no easy task. Currently the world population is increasing and this only serves to complicate how we can sustain it.
