Triclosan is rated to be a possible carcinogen. At the very least it should be pulled off the market until more research can be done. Profit should never out weigh safety. To add insult to injury the University of Michigan proved that regular soaps are just as affective as ones with the potentially dangerous triclosan antibacterial.
The FDA has no definitive proof that tricolsan is bad, and thus cannot take it out of use. On the other hand, it doesn’t have any definitive proof that it is good either. I think that companies should begin phasing-out the use of triclosan as a preventative measure, but I don’t think it should be banned based on fear alone.
