I think that pollution is causing rising temperatures which in turn melts ice. The excessive emittance of CO2 and other greenhouse gases–from cars, factories, machinery etc.–that have gotten caught in the atmosphere are the source of climate change.
Yes. In addition to greenhouse gases such as C02 that are causing climate change, other environmental pollutants are also having a direct effect on the rate of ice melt in the Arctic. For instance, soot can blacken ice, which makes it absorb more heat and thus melt faster than normal.
