Yes, it probably will cause stricter rules about drilling in the ocean or possibly ban it altogether. There is plenty of oil elsewhere on the Earth on land.If an accident were to happen on land, it wouldn’t effect as much of our Earth’s biosphere. Obama already said that he wouldn’t pass many laws against drilling in the ocean when he was being elected in order to win republican votes, but I believe that after the spill, more republicans will see how the oil industry effected the fishing and tourism industries in the gulf and look forward to a change in legislation.
