A spokesman for President Obama recently said that it was very possible that the Democrats could lose their house majority in this fall’s elections. If that were to happen, many of the Obama White House’s policies could be under attack. Having said that, it is likely that the president would try and push the bill through before that time to avoid direct conflict with Republican lawmakers. However, as was seen with the health care bill, that approach can lead to a misdirected bill riddled with compromises. I think Obama would be smart to wait until the fall elections and try to work with Democrat and Republican house members to get the best bill on the table.
