We can only hope so. Environmentalism has become rather trendy though, so some fear that, like other trends, the dedication to the cause will pass and be replaced by the next fad. Hopefully this won’t happen!
Also, in the next decade we will still be feeling greater and greater effects of climate change, so if scientists and media play their cards right to remind people why things are changing, perhaps we will see more awareness.
Carbon footprint awareness is growing in the United States. In 2007, 38% of people recognized the term “carbon footprint”, and this has increased to approximately 50% of the population. Consumer awareness has generated an increased demand for lower carbon footprint producing products.
