Do you think climate legislation is like smoking bans– people oppose it at beforehand but then realize it is really good for everyone?

I would agree that climate legislation is like smoking bans in that people do not always like to hear or be forced to adapt what is best for them and society in general for the long run. And just like tobacco companies did not like the idea of smoking bans, members of the coal and oil industry do not like climate change legislation as it threatens their businesses and potential profits. Climate change, however, is a much more complex issue than smoking bans with many more controversial points involved at a vastly larger scale.
