Do you think it is OK to cut trees down in forests as long as a new tree is planted in its place?

    I think it is ok to cut down trees in certain instances. Tree materials are a necessary substance for our society, and because of our dependency upon them, I think planting trees in place of those cut down is necessary to maintain the vitality of our forests.

    I don’t think it is ok to cut down trees in a forest in which it will take so long to regrow, it negates the ecological value of the tree. For instance, cutting down numerous oak trees would likely cause a local ecosystem collapse. Because new trees would take so long to grow and replace them, other species would suffer before new trees could mature.

    Personally no. I don’t believe in cutting down trees period.
