Environmental legislation is necessary for people who don’t care about the environment. Otherwise, they would do whatever they wanted without regard for its effect on the planet. There needs to be enforcable laws, otherwise some people just won’t care. Take the Endangered Species Protection Act for example; it’s saved many species that otherwise could have gone extinct through carelessness.
Environmental legislation is necessary to protect our resources. For example, the Natural Resources Defence Council works to build upon our current environmental laws (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act) to ensure that we manage our resources in the best way possible for today and for future generations.
