A country would not have to have socialized medicine to be sustainable. Yes, it makes sense in theory that if the government controlled the medical industry, then the government could make the industry sustainable, but the same thing could happen if consumers only bought sustainable medical products. Companies would then be forced to move into markets for sustainable products. This would create a chain reaction around all industries, if the consumers demanded sustainable products. So, instead of the government demanding sustainability in a socialist system, the people in a capitalist system could demand sustainablity and receive it.
