Lentils are actually fairly drought tolerant. While you should keep them moist, they don’t require lots of water. For full advise about the recommended pH of the soil and upkeep, refer to the site linked below.
Like Jet states, lentils are very hardy plants that do not require much water. In fact, you should be sure to plant them in soil that will drain easily. They require only 6 inches of rain or water throughout their entire growing season, and they do not tolerate flooding or water logged soil.
