What exactly do you mean by “older”? If you’re referring to adolescence, then absolutely – young people require a good amount of food to finish the growing process and to acquire the necessary nutrients that are crucial to long-term health. Water and fiber are especially important, in addition to a plentiful supply of fruits and vegetables.
On the other hand, people who are elderly generally do not need to consume as much food as they once did, owing to a decrease in activity and muscle mass. There are exceptions, though; but overall, the energy needs of an elderly person are significantly less than a 16-year old.
