The size of the grind depends on the method of brewing. Espresso tastes best with fine coffee grounds; regular drip coffee requires a medium grind size; French press and vacuum pots use the largest grind size. Coffee should be brewed within 2 minutes of being ground or else it will begin to become stale and the complexity of the bean will be degraded.
Depends on the type of coffee and how you brew it. If you’re making French press coffee (in my opinion, the most flavorful way to brew), you need very coarsely ground coffee. Espresso, on the other hand, requires an extremely fine grind. Regular drip coffee makers usually use a medium grind, but are pretty versatile.
