Do you burn a lot less calories when you sleep?

    An average person sleeping an average number of hours a night (106lbs, 8hrs) will burn about 549 calories.

    Yes, people burn a lot less calories when they sleep.  There is a thing called Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) which tells you how many calories you would burn staying in bed all day.  I attached the link to a calculator so that you can see what yours is.  Just walking around burns a lot more calories, and even fidgeting burns a lot of calories compared to just laying there still.
