Do wind farms help reduce global warming?

  1. 0 Votes

According to a research study by MIT, they found out that mass produced wind farms can actually affect the climate in a negative way. Over land, the temperatures around wind farms would rise by one degree Celsius. The wind farms reduce wind speed thus reducing the heat that is being transferred from the land surface into the lower atmosphere. It also decreases the flow of air from high pressure areas to low pressure areas. The researchers also believed that the new wind patterns from the wind farms could also affect precipitation.
