do we need to change the way we manufacture goods to make the process more green?

Absolutley,  even if goods are manufactured in a “green” way, they are still shipped in and by vehicles which consume fossil fuels. It is the shipping that causes most products to leave a large carbon footprint. However the lean program enacted by the EPA is attempting to offer solutions to make production greener.

Yes we do. One step that is being used by more and more companies is to use less packaging. Companies also try to reuse or sell their byproducts, so that there is less waste. It’s also becoming more commonplace for businesses to use solar or wind energy to power their plants.  Now we just need to make sure that the manufacturing machines are efficient and that we produce less carbon emissions.
